Football Streaks & Trends FAQ

What are football streaks and trends?

Patterns pulled from a team's recent results. If Tottenham have gone over 2.5 goals in 14 of their last 18, that's a trend. If Basel have had BTTS in 8 of 9 home games, that's another. We crunch the numbers so you don't have to.

How do you calculate these trends?

We look at each team's last 20 finished matches and check hit rates for goals lines (O/U 0.5 through 3.5), BTTS, win runs, clean sheets, and scoring streaks. We split them by overall, home, and away. Only trends that hit at 70% or better (or consecutive streaks of 3+ games) make the cut.

When are trends updated?

Every morning at 5:30 AM UTC, we recompute trends for all matches in the next 48 hours. The page itself refreshes every 5 minutes, so you're always seeing fresh data.

What does the fraction like 14/18 mean?

That's the hit rate. 'O2.5 goals in 14/18 games' means over 2.5 goals happened in 14 out of the team's last 18 matches. The higher the fraction, the stronger the trend.

What does L5 or L8 mean in a streak?

The L stands for 'last' and marks a consecutive run. 'Won L5 league games' means the team won their last 5 league matches in a row, no breaks.

Which leagues are covered?

Every league on FootyWhale gets trends, including the Premier League, La Liga, Serie A, Bundesliga, Ligue 1, Champions League, MLS, Liga MX, and more. If we have upcoming matches for it, we compute trends for it.

Can I use these trends for betting?

Trends show what's happened recently, not what will happen next. They're a research tool, not a prediction. FootyWhale is a prediction platform, not a betting service. If you choose to bet, please gamble responsibly. 18+ only.
